Campaign of New Mexico
Congressional Candidate Dan East Gains Momentum
March 18, 2008 Arlington, Va.—
The National Utility Contractors Association (NUCA)
is pleased to announce that Daniel K. East--NUCA
Senior Vice President and president of NUCA member
company Cone Construction--has been placed on the
official ballot for the June 3 New Mexico primary.
East is seeking the seat of US Representative Tom
Udall, a Democrat from New Mexico's 3rd
congressional district, who is running for the US
Senate. Disillusioned with the current elected
officials, East decided to run--as an outsider and a
small businessman--"to bring positive change to New
Mexico."
In announcing that he had made the ballot, East
said: "I have received calls from supporters all
over the district and all have said that momentum is
on our side and that for a newbie who lacks name
recognition we're doing very well." A candidate must
get a minimum of 20% of the delegates in the New
Mexico GOP's Pre-Primary Nominating Convention to
make it on the primary ballot. East easily qualified
by picking up 32.1% of the delegates during the
March 15 vote. While noting Republican Marco
Gonzales' 67.9%, several political analysts say that
both are "solid candidates" and that it's still
definitely "a race to watch."
The NUCA PAC Committee has already contributed
$5,000 to East's campaign. Anyone wishing to assist
East in competing with opponents who are well funded
professional politicians can send a check payable to
Dan East for Congress to 1380 Rio Rancho Blvd. SE

limits individual donations to $2,300 per person for
each of the primary and general elections. Corporate
donations cannot be accepted.)
