Dan East to
Announce Run for New Mexico's 3rd
Congressional Seat
February 6, 2008
Rio Rancho - At a gathering before
friends, family and supporters in
his home, East announced his
candidacy for New Mexico's 3rd
Congressional Seat. During the
address, East stated, "For year I
have traveled to Washington asking
for support and commitments from the
federal government and little has
been accomplished. Consequently, I
have become disillusioned with the
current elected officials and have
decided to run myself - as an
outsider and a small businessman -
to bring change to New Mexico.
As a candidate for one of the
largest districts in the country,
East is crisscrossing the area and
listening to the needs of the
people. Dan strongly believes that
speaking with everyday New Mexicans
is imperative. It is not until you
understand the needs of the people
that you can develop unique
solutions to make New Mexico a
better place to live, work and raise
a family.
Dan stated, "I have the experience,
education, and background to help
stimulate our local economy by
encouraging businesses to create
more and better paying jobs. As a
small business owner, I have
firsthand experience with the high
cost of health care. I plan to work
within the free enterprise system to
find a solution to make health care
affordable and accessible for all. We
must look at alternative energy
sources and decrease our reliance on
foreign oil. Additionally, we must
continue to support our military, our
labs, and our bases. When I am
elected, this district will have an
ear and a voice in Congress, two
things that have been missing for
quite a while.
